The World Celebrates Rabbi Marcia Prager

Rabbi Marcia Prager, an inspirational Jewish Renewal spiritual leader, teacher, guide, and colleague, has become a model for a new generation of lay and professional leadership. Through her, many of us have forged an intimate, passionate relationship with Judaism, with the divine in all of us, and thus, with each other.

The P'nai Or Philadelphia Jewish Renewal community is grateful that in 5772 (2011) R. Marcia celebrated 18 years of serving as our Rabbi-Chaver. In her honor, friends from around the world shared these many stories, poems, and loving tributes, to show our gratitude and naches at this wonderful milestone!

A True Blessing

Prior to Rosh Hashana 1999, I was unfamiliar with Jewish Renewal, although I had heard of Marcia Prager.  We came as guests to Pnai Or and were completely mesmerized by Reb Marcia.

At that time, I didn't even think about the word blessing except in the context of lighting candles or kiddush. Then I participated in the Jewish Life Center course offered by Marcia (a true blessing) and I learned the meaning, value and delight of blessings for myself and others.

It is easy for me to give a blessing and to transmit blessings into my art. I can intuit the appropriate blessing at any given time.   I am also able to recognize and appreciate the blessings that come to me.
